Maternal Lineage
« on: Monday 09 June 14 09:44 BST (UK) »
Hello All,

Firstly, I am a Hunter Valley girl from NSW.
Most of my colonial ancestors are connected to the Hunter Valley and Goulburn region.
I am at the moment researching my Direct MATERNAL LINEAGE which so far I have traced back to
to an ANNE MILSON nee LYONS born 1815, London, England and married a CHARLES MILSON.
From ANNIE and CHARLES union my maternal line follows from their daughter named:
Sarah Anne Milson 1838-1914 married Nathanial S Wicks and their daughter,
Mary Ellen Wicks 1868 to 1945 married Robert Pittman and their daughter,
Ivy Sarah Pittman 1900-? married James Leslie Coward and their daughter,
Dorothy is my mother.

I am also am seeking any further information regarding Anne "Annie" Lyons and Charles Milson
OR any information in relation to the names mentioned above.

Thank you
Linxenchain.

Take a look at www.familysearch.org
They have a Charles Henry Milson baptized in Bermondsey, London in 1819. Could he be your Charles?

Hi
Sorry to quibble but Charles Milsom death 1874 NSW Armidale has him the son of Thomas plus the other guy seems to arrive on the Eden in 1840 and is a shoemaker.
As the couples marriage is at Segenhoe in 1837 I think this is more likely.
Charles Milsom born 1802/3 Reading Berksnire.
Arrived 26.6.1831 on the Eleanor.
Convicted at Reading 27.12.1830 for machine braking on 2 accounts-7 years each.
Married with 2 children .Can r and W carpenter  5ft 2 3/4 dark ruddy dark brown hair and eyes .
1832 Segenhoe carpenter employed by Potter MacQueen.

First marriage at Aldworth to 23.7.1827 to Martha Bearfield
2 children Martha bap 18.5.1828 Basildon and Henry Richard 28.3 1830 Ashampstead.
The latter came out to Australia in 6.5 1857 and married 1863 at Armidale a Mary Howard.

1841 Butts Reading
Martha Milson 35 ind y(born in Cty)
Martha 14 y
Sarah 5 y
And Henry is working elsewhere as a ag lab.
The daughter Martha marries Ambrose Thomas at St Marylebone in London 15.12.1850
The mother Martha Senior I can't find after 1841.
Some family tree have Ann Lyon's father as Lewis presumably from her death cert which I can't find.
If that's correct there's supposedly a baptism of Annie Marie at Basseldon 3.3.1817 to Lewis and Caroline Lyons.nee Dunkin
Ann Marie apparently arrived 25.6.1830 at Port Jackson NSW
Parents marriage 13.1.1815 at St Brides London I have checked out. Both of that parish.
If you want more on that it's on Ancestry
The family tree does have photos so it looks like they know what they are doing.
Would do more but my Library computer time is running out
