History of Horringer Work house Suffolk

Does anyone on here have information about staff who worked in the work house in Horringer in 1873 and 1912? I realise my best bet will probably be the local records office but just thought I'd ask :)

Welcome to RootsChat
Do you mean Thingoe Union Workhouse Suffolk? See http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Thingoe/
There was no Workhouse in Horringer after 1834

Thanks Stan and Kath for your replies. Stan, your point is very interesting as I am trying to find out the history/tenants of the building (Gild Hall) in Horringer that used to be the work house, in particular the Masters cottage on that site. Would you happen to know anything about it?

If you have some names you may be able to find them on the 1871 and 1911 censuses, depending on dates these people lived in the Master's Cottage.
With some of the pay sites you can search by address if names are not known.

I only know what is on http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Thingoe/ and that In 1836, a new union workhouse was erected at the west side of Mill Lane in Bury St Edmunds.

OK so this is rather a long shot, but further to my posts yesterday about the work house in Horringer, I am trying to find out who lived in the property once it became cottages. I am particularly interested in the old Masters Cottage as I have found two names etched on the upstairs window. The first one appears to read ' 7, Ghaeels Bury, Nove 1873' and the later one 'C.Bowles, July 1912'. I would be grateful for any information regarding these names or if anyone could tell me more about the history of the Gild Hall when it ceased to be used as the work house.
