Rower Cemetery Gravestones - Kavanagh
« on: Friday 13 June 14 12:30 BST (UK) »
Hi Folks,
I'm new here so my apologies if this question should be posted some other place.

I've been doing a lot of research on my Kavanagh family from The Rower in Kilkenny. They had a homestead in Raheenduff for generations. At one point in the past I received a document of transcriptions of all the Kavanagh's buried in the Rower cemetery (so I was told).

One of the Kavanagh gravestones I've confirmed as members of the line I am researching:

Patrick Kavanagh:
Quote
Pray for the repose of the soul of Patrick Kavanagh, Raheenduff who died 2nd June 1908 aged 87 years. Erected in loving memory by his children. Also his wife Anne Kavanagh nee Grace died 23rd November 1923 aged 79 years. Also their grandchildren John Kavanagh, died 1st July 1938, aged 23 years. Ans Bessie who died young. Their son James J. Kavanagh died 26th February 1940 aged 61 years. R.I.P. Also his wife Catherine nee Curran died 1976 aged 89 years. Their children Katherine died 1963 aged 46 years. And Anna (Sr. Damian) died 1978. (row 2)

Patrick was my 3rd great grand uncle.

First - Does anyone know exactly where on a map this cemetery is located? I have been unable to find it.

Second - Is it possible someone has photographs of the gravestones in this cemetery, or lives nearby and would be willing to take a photo of this particular Kavanagh gravestone or others nearby?

Thanks so much,
Ryan

The more I look I don't think that's the correct church. I think it's the one in the middle of the town.

It's still being used, I can see funerals to it, cemetery mass in it, but no directions any where, we need a local.

The ruined one in the middle of the village is known as Teampall an Rois so not St.Davids.
