Charles in the Oak Beerhouse Fazeley Staffordshire/Warwickshire
« on: Sunday 15 June 14 19:22 BST (UK) »
Hi, There was a beer house in Fazeley call the Charles in the Oak or Royal Oak. Fazeley was on two county boarders and moved from Staffordshire to Warwickshire and then back again. I'm pretty sure the beer house closed around 1903 but I'm looking for any information about it before then or maybe a photograph.  thanks Snowy

Hi, I don't think this is the one I'm after. Mine is in Fazeley and not on the Fazeley road, there is no Fazeley road in Fazeley. Im sure it closed around 1903 thanks

Hi,
There are a few small mentions in the local papers , nothing of much importance.
1875 mentions Charles-in-Oak beerhouse,Fazeley.
1887 under Property... "old established Inn, King Charles in the Oak, with three cottages adjoining"
1903  King Charles in the Oak, Fazeley.

Also a mention in the Tamworth Herald 1893 of a death of the landlord of the King Charles in the Oak, Coleshill Road, Fazeley.

Hi Cathy, Yes James Dewell was the landlord ,my great great grandfather. I'm doing some background but with the exception of the local paper there's not much to go on, not even an address.  thanks
