thank you for replies.  address on arthurs marriage cert is Woodley st.  as is his spouse 19 and 20 Woodley St.  Sarah Elizabeth was living with het brother Robert archer at the time, but I don't know who Arthur was staying with he was a pte in the 3rd Manchester regiment. I have found no military record  for him.  As for William Carroll the only birth I have found is 1867 to Thomas and Alice, so it seems he got his age wrong on marriage and census. Is this usual?

re;Thomas second marriage to mary ann in 1881, if her father was Nicolas duckworth could she be Alice his 1st wifes sister? as I found marriage to Alice Duckworth or Dinkworth in 1865 Manchester.

thank you to all replies.  on Thomas and alice marriage cert one of the witnesses is mary ann booth who seems to have become his 2nd wife, she was a widow at time marriage to thomas she seems to have same father as alice his 1st wife.
