need help. my grandfather Arthur carroll married sarah Elizabeth archer june 1916  Manchester. I know from marriage cert his father was William carroll a gas worker.  I cannot arthur on 1901 or 1911 census.
where can he be?

When was Arthur born? What ages did they give at marriage, witness, address etc, it sometimes helps the search.

Arthur appears on 1911 census and it looks like his father has remarried to another mary -there are several Roberts stepchildren with them

It looks like William married Mary Jane Roberts formerly Atkinson in 1910 Prestwich Register Office or Registrar attended

thanks for replys.  Arthur age on marriage cert is 24.  which means he was born 1891. I have found this. its his father I am having trouble with. if it is the William on 1911 census with new wife
and stepchildren its his year of birth that is confusing me . on the marriage cert for new wife he is 46 in 1910. and his father was Thomas, mechanic fitter. I can only find a William with father Thomas in  born1867 Manchester none in 1863-64. there is rumour that they were irish Orangemen, but cant find any census with irish connection or birth.     very confusing.
