Robert Gregg
« on: Thursday 19 June 14 20:00 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

Looking for a Robert Gregg born in 1883 in Co.Antrim. I know his father was also named Robert Gregg and he married Ellen Connor in 1902. Any new information would be appreciated as I've hit a dead-end trying to find any family.

Is this Robert and Ellen at 1911:

and possibly Ellen with her parents at 1901:

and, given location and age, a possibility for Robert in 1901, albeit listed as a Presbyterian:

Ah, looks like most of this is already known:

Perhaps if Stevie P could clarify what is already known, and what else they hope to learn, we could avoid duplication of effort.

Always best if they post all they know - saves duplication.

Hi everyone, the tree on Ancestry is mine. I'm currently toying with the possibility that Robert's middle name is Hugh because it is the only record I can find that fits for him. I've crosschecked most of the Robert Greggs in the 1911 census of Ireland with father's named Robert but can't seem to find a match for mine. I'm also convinced that the Robert Gregg listed in 1901 as a Servant is also him. I've since been to the Moravian church in Gracehill where Ellen and Robert were married and discovered that he was a non-member. So basically we were back to square one!

Was an occupation listed on Robert's marriage for his father, Robert, or perhaps did it mention if he was deceased? What townland did Robert give as his address at time of marriage?

Have you considered checking the birth of the Robert Hugh Gregg born Ballymena district? It should be available to view, at a cost, on:

https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/

or have you already had sight of same and the father is also a Robert?

If the 1883 birth of Robert Hugh Gregg is your chap, he possibly had a brother born in 1888 named John Steele Gregg.
