Cowen&Redgrove, Pancras
« on: Friday 20 June 14 02:00 BST (UK) »
Ivy Mary Louise Cowen married Herbert Stanley Redgrove in 1915. I am trying to find out:
- who were her parents?
- was her child Stanley b.1922 stillborn?
- did they have any other children?
Help appreciated!!

It doesn't look like Stanley was stillborn - birth reg Jun qtr 1922 -death reg same qtr age 0
He could have lived a few hours/days or months - death certificate would give date of death & cause
If he had been stillborn he would have been on a different register.

I am wondering if this is Ivy Mary Louise in 1901 -going by Louise?

Elizabeth Cowan daughter  widow 32 Domestic help Camberwell London
Louisa Cowan granddaughter 5 Brixton London

Ivy is listed under her full name in 1911 index

If you purchase her marriage cert, for £9-25 from the official GRO website,it will tell you who their father's were and lead you to be able to trace the correct line. You should then be able to find her on the 1911 census.

You can use the free site http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ to see if they had children.

Enter the surname Redgrove and mothers maiden name Cowen under births, and you will see that they just had Stanley, who as Suzard found died pretty soon after he was born.

Thanks, that is how I had found out about the child Stanley but wondered if there might have been more!

Thank you; just trying to keep expenses down :) His father was John Richard Redgrove; it is the Cowens for whom I had little info so these postings help!

Thank you, Suz. In what registry would a stillborn birth be recorded?
I appreciate too the Cowen/Cowan info as when I had looked they seemed the most likely possibilities!

This could well be her birth, particularly as on each census mum swops her names round  ;)
