Laver

Please help me find relatives by the name of Laver.  I am related to the Australian famous tennis player, Rod Laver.  I believe our ancestors came from Glastonbury, England.  My great grandfather was Robert Scott Laver who married Mary Phillips.  They had 13 children, and my grandfather was Harold Clifford Laver. Thankyou, Lyn

hi lyn and a warm welcome to Rootschat.  :)

are you wanting info on living relatives ?  if so we cannot help  ( Roots chat rules )

However, if it is ancestors, no longer living  we can help  :) if you could give approximate  dates  of birth/marriage that would be helpful. I am sure someone among us can help.

cheers
taffie

What information are you looking for? Do you want to go further back? Not supposed to do living persons search on here but if you make a couple more messages, you can be given details by private messaging.

There appears to be a well sourced tree on Anc** that gives Robert Laver's birth as Chard, Somerset in 1856. Died in Queensland, Australia in 1932.

Married Mary Phillips in 1877, Victoria, Australia.

Gives all the names etc of the thirteen children.

What information have you got, saves us all duplicating :)

Snap, Taffie01, we're both going down the same lines ;D

Hi Lyn and welcome to our humble home.
If you have Laver/Lavor ancestors from around Glastonbury then I may be able to help.
My late wife's ancestors go back to John Laver who was born 1670 probably in Bridgwater Somerset and that is very close to Glastonbury and Petherton where most of the early Laver/Lavor names are to be found.
Do tell us more of what you know please.
Another help would be to take a look at some of the previous rootschat topics like;

Another way to search is if you look at the top of this page you eill see a little search box ...... just type in either Lavor or Laver (the names are interchangeable) and you should see quite a number of rootschat dialogue that could keep you busy.

Hi there,

Francis Laver (1845-1910) has a brother Robert Scott Laver (1853-1932) with wife Mary Phillips (1853-1919). Francis is one of 8 children to James and Elizabeth Laver.

Robert and Mary are believed to have 13 children but can only find record on one - Roy Stanley Laver (1898-?) leongatha. Roy married Melba Myrtle Ednis Roffey (1910 - 1995) Calliope.

Roy and Melba then had four children
-- Trevor John Laver 19/1/1932
-- Robert 'Bob' Francis Laver 1935
-- Rodney George Laver 9/8/1938
-- Lois Laver (dob?)

Trevor Laver is my partners Grandfather so that makes Rod my Grand Uncle.

If anyone has information of Roy's siblings please let me know :) and if anyone wants higher up the tree i have that information.

Sara

hello Lyn, you posted over a year ago, but I am assuming you're still interested in Laver relatives.  I am more than likely related to you.  My g-grandmother was a Laver. They lived in Meare, near Glastonbury, Somerset. We have Rod Laver in our family tree also.  My g-grandmother was Mary Jane Laver. She married Jesse Laver Difford and had the pub called The Old Ring o' Bells, in Meare. We are also in Australia. My family migrated when I was a child. Live in NSW. There is a website if you google, called Lavertowers. They have a lot of info on the Lavers including our lot. I am unsure of the connection between you and me but I am sure it exists, because of the fact Rod Laver is in both our trees.  All the best, and contact me if you would like.  Charliegirl.
