Looking for Emily Davison (Davidson)
« on: Sunday 22 June 14 14:56 BST (UK) »
Emily may have been born in Wakes Clone nr Chapel in Essex around 1864, she only appears on the 1891 census after her marriage to John James Baker in South Shields in 1855.

I do not know if Emily was an illegitimate child, then her mother married after 1864, or if Emily was adopted as a baby?

Need your help to find her birth

Regards
Stan Baker

Hallo and welcome to Rootshcat.
There is something wrong in the information you give in your post. The 1891 census shows John James Baker as born in 1864 and Emily as born in 1865, so they could not have been married in 1855. Did you mean 1885 perhaps?

Do you have their marriage certificate? That might be useful to find out more about where Emily was living at the time of the marriage and who she said her father was.

Failure to register a birth only became a fineable offence in 1874 so prior to then - lots of births went unregistered

Lexden was the registration district for Chapel and there is no marriage for a William Davidson/Davison at all in that RD and no Davison/Davidson marriage between 1864-1871
