Can someone tell me which Port a Cork Militia man and his family would sail from to Melbourne, Australia?

Cork Harbour is actually off Queenstown, formerly Cove of Cork, now Cobh.
He must have left the Militia first, as I do not know of Militia serving in Australia. What year was this?

Thank you Ken for your prompt answer. Yes he was out of the Cork Militia when he and his wife sailed to Melbourne. It was there that he saw they were wanting men for the Taranaki Militia and signed on.
He and Catherine sailed for New Zealand 1864. The 9 children were all born in New Zealand.

I should have added the NZ Land Wars finished Aug 1865 all British Regiments disbanded most soldiers went back but some Military units that were formed stayed around for several years , but were not part of the English Regiments .

Hi jananne.
I'm very interested in my ancestry and see your referencing Thomas O'Neill. He is my great great grandfather and his son James is my great grand father. I would be interested in seeing what you've found so far.
