Hello,

Do you have Arabella's marriage cert with her father's name and perhaps profession? Rudkin is an uncommon name in Ireland.  In the Griffiths Valuation there were only 6. See http://scripts.ireland.com/ancestor/surname/index.cfm Try tracing these 6 for clues.

Also check if any UK census mentioned her county or townland of birth.

Have you had a look at all those of Rudkin (and variations) surname that appear in IGI for Ireland?  About 53 in total - no Arabella though - but it may help narrow down  research as the names seem to only be spread over a handful of areas .

Thanks for the suggestions!

I live in the USA, so I don't have the opportunity to check actual records.  I have to depend on records on the Internet.

I'll check out the two links you provided!

I have looked in BIVRI - no trace of her birth or a Rudkin / Povall marriage (I tried several spelling variations including Powell)

The Charles Povall christening below is the only one anywhere near in date :(

POVALL, Charles   Christening
   Gender:   Male
   Christening Date:12 Nov 1815
Recorded in:Weaverham, Cheshire, England
   Father:   Charles Povall
   Mother:   Anne

Hi,
Arabella married in the December quarter of 1844 in Liverpool, Lancashire.
I only had the year of her death, so thanks for the exact date.
Charles Povall was born 4 Sep 1790 in Liverpool. He was christened 22 Oct 1790 at the Church of Our Lady and St Nicholas. At the time of the christening the family lived in Plumbe street, Liverpool. His father, Joseph was a stonemason. Joseph Povall married Ann Langley at St Peter's in Church street in Liverpool on 25 August 1789 (not 20 Aug 1789 as in BIVRI version 2) The Register has the bride as Nancy, although all other listings I have found have her as Ann. Joseph is in the register as Joseph Powel.
I hope this is of some help.
