Possible
John Pennington born 19th december 1825 - baptised 15th jan 1826 at Rainford Protestant Dissenters New Church - parents John and Ann

Thomas Pennington born 5th July 1824- bap 20th July 1824  - same church and parents
John Pennington b 29th May 1829 - bap 19th June 1829 - same church and parents
James Pennington b 1st jan 1832 - bap 19th feb 1832 - same church and parents

Looks interesting. It certainly ties in with the Census records where they record Rainford as place of birth.

Notice that FamilySearch have a copy of the records from the church on fiche, so searching on Familysearch has come up with the record for Mary ..... again transcription ....

Hi, I've just come across your post.

John and Ann were my 3x Gt Grandparents, their son John (1829) was my 2x Gt Grandad, his daughter Rebecca (1865) was my Gt Grandma (I have photos of her).

I live in Standish and remember Engine Row before it was demolished.

If you want any info on the Penningtons, let me know and I'll tell you as much as I can.
