PLEASE HELP ME FIND MARY ANN WHARMBY
« on: Friday 04 July 14 10:26 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

Please can someone help me find a relative, Mary Ann Wharmby, who was born to Abraham Wharmby circa 1864. I have a hunch that the mother may have been a Sarah??

I have found Mary Ann and Abraham on a census, which lists Mansfield as place of birth but so far I haven't found the birth record to enable me to track down the birth certificate. I thought I was doing well but I know there are people on here that will be able to help me further so that is my plea.

Any help and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ??? ??

Hi pjm99,

No I wondered if that was it but Basford seems too far from Mansfield or Sutton for it to be listed rather than something nearby, I didn't want to buy the certificate if it was a red herring?

I'm not that experienced yet at family history to take that much of a hunch! What do you think? Is it a possibility?

Thanks

I think her father married again in 1875 to a Sarah Eddleston Plant in Mansfield  This might be a death for Ann Wharmby 1874 in Mansfield aged 29 years

I looked for a burial at Sutton in Ashfield but couldn't find one, but when Rosie found a suitable death, I had another look. As there doesn't seem to be a Wharnsley in 1874 in the GRO death index I think this must be the one for Ann mistranscribed.

Burial at Sutton in Ashfield - 31 Aug 1874
Ann WHARNSLEY, aged 29 - Reform St, Sutton in Ashfield.

Marriage at Sutton in Ashfield - 25 Feb 1839
William WHARMBY & Sarah WAKEFIELD

I can't see any baptisms for their children  :-\
