I believe you are all correct. I misread the handwriting and William Owen Jones makes more sense. Let me get back to you on the title of the book. I just arrived in New York, and the book is at my family's home in Cape Town. I will ask my sister, who is there, to check the book title.

Here`s how the book ended up in South Africa.

North Wales Express 11 March 1910
Portmadoc Wedding in South Africa. JONES—TAIT.
The marriage of Mr William Owen Jones, of Portmadoc, North Wales (manager of the Bank of Africa, Cape Town), to Mrs Emmie Tait (widow of Mr lYl. L. Tait, and daughter of the late Mr Godfrey Sichel ), was. solemnised on February l5 th. The ceremony took place at .St. Saviour's Church, Claremont, and was attended by many prominent city and suburban residents.

WO must have been about 45 by this time, maybe he was a widower.
This is  turning  into a great story.  :)

Wow. Great research team. The name of the book (one of you asked) is "Enfants Celebs" by Louis Colet. Published by Paris Libraries, on 79 Boulevard Saint Germany in 1876.

William Owen Jones is an interesting person in my family. My father "Owen Tait" is named after him.

Emma Marion Stuart Sichel married my great grandfather Murdoch Morison Tait. Murdoch, a lawyer in Cape Town committed suicide because of gambling debts. Leaving Emma penniless. Owen Jones was a banker in South Africa, and "she married the bank manager."

They had a daughter called Olwen Stuart Owen-Jones, Born in Holyhead, Anglesey. 5 January 1911. She married Alfred Randel Falck. I believe they had two children Elizabeth, and Owen Falck.

Elizabeth had two Children: Jenny and Garry Wade. Owen married Hazel Logie, and had three boys. Gregory, Richard, and Roger. These children were born in the 1970s so I assume will still be alive.

William Owen Jones  was baptised  at St Giles Wrexham on  13 July 1864 son of William and Kate,  of Egerton Street , Wrexham.  His father `s  occupation was an  accountant.

There is a marriage in Chester 1862 that seems to fit but I don`t have full details of fathers occupations.
William Jones  17 Dec 1862  St John, Chester, Age appx  21  Single  Father's Name: Owen Jones
Kate Jones   age 21 Single  Spouse's Father's Name: Joseph Jones

Kate is found in Wrexham , her father is a grocer.b Ysceifiog , Flintshire

I`ve not been able to find William Owen Jones in  Wales after 1881.

(Olwen supposed to have been  born Holyhead )
Family search has this baptism
Olwen Stuart  Baptism  27 Mar 1911  Cape of Good Hope, South Africa
Father William Owen Jones Mother Emma Marion Stuart Jones  .

I`m guessing the birth wasn`t registered in Wales. I can`t find it .
What a long journey to take a baby.
