I have a John SCOTT born 1811, Wigtown to William SCOTT and Mary GIkinson/Gilkerson/Gilke
1841 census living Knowstocks
William SCOTT /56/Farmer/Ireland
Mary SCOTT/55/ / Wigtown
John SCOTT/29/ / Wigtown
Anne SCOTT/ 18/ / Wigtown
Mary SCOTT / 15/ /Wigtown
N.K / 1/2/ / Wigtown
Think N.K may be illigitimate child of Anne as in 1851 there is a daugther Jane showing with William & Mary. Unsure about this given their ages.
1851 living 895 Knockstocks, Penninghame
William SCOTT age 65/ married /Farmer./born Ireland
Mary age 66/married/ /born Kirkcowan
Alexander age 25/unmarried/farm servant/ born Kirkcowan
Jane age 10/ /Scholar / born Penninghame
Also 1861 family living in Knoxbrack Toll.
I have found their son John's death cert giving Mary's maiden name as Gilke. I have seen from parish records (someone kindly passed them on) her name was shown as eithr Gilkinson or Gilkerson for John's birth.
I haven't found their marriage record as yet and would like to find out more about them. As you see from census ther ages vary slightly so their birth years can be estimated. (in 1861 ages were William 76 & Mary 78)
I haven't found their death record on scotlands people either.
Can anyone help with any information?
