Great find, Claire. Well done!

Strange about his birth place.

 I had simply searched on 'James' with a birthplace of 'Faversham' -- then with a birthplace of 'Hernhill' -- needless to say - I was unsuccessful! (No change there then!)

The occupation to me looks like it could possibly be 'Farrier' -- and he had previously been a groom and gardener -- so he was experienced with horses. That would tie in.
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

Hi

I actually did a search for an Olive bn 1875 Graveney (no surname included) , her name being the more unusual of the bunch. Stroke of luck she was the first one to come up.

Not having muck luck finding Henry James  ???

I am not too sure if this is of much use to you.  Whilst researching my family history I noticed that your James descended from my William Wraight 1717 who married Hannah Goodwin in 1750 at Blean. They had several children, one being William, 1757, who married a Lucy Spratt in 1777 at Hernhill, again several children, one being Edward,1777! who married Mary Pearce in 1798.  They had a James,1799, who married Sarah Ann Hart in 1823.  They had 8 children, one being James, 1836 who married Emma Butcher.  Unfortunately, I did not follow this line down as I was concentrating on my history.  At least it confirms that James, 1836, married Emma Butcher.  Hope this information is of some background use.
