John Jones
« on: Sunday 13 July 14 13:58 BST (UK) »
Looking information regarding John Jones. I believe he was a Sawyer and possibly lived in the Flintshire/Denbighshire area.He would be born sometime in the late1780s or 1890s.He had a son called Robert Jones born about 1819 in Denbigh. I would be very grateful for any information about John.
Thank you.
Waen.

Hello philipsearching.
Yes it certainly is a challenge looking for a Jones in Wales. From the word go,but luckily I knew the name of the cottage where Dad was born so I went from there.I managed to find Robert Jones who is my great-grandfather.Now it is his father John thatI'm looking for.I just noticed that I put search years as1780s 1890s that should have been1790s.But even then that is a guess based on Roberts birth year.
Thank you for your efforts,I need all the help I can get on this one.
.Waen.

Hello rosie17,
I don't have a name for John's mother or any siblings.I don't even know if Flint or Denbigh is where he was born.I am just guessing that is where he was born going on the idea that people didn't move around as much as we do these days, and that is where Robert was born. The only thing I know is that he was a sawyer. But that could have changed through his life.
Thank god for people like you and philipsearching.  Good Luck and thank you.I appreciate all your efforts.
Waen

Just searching Denbighshire I found the following:

1841: Tynewydd in the Parish of Bettws Abergele:
John Jones  60  Sawyer
Elinor Jones  60
John Jones  40
All Born in County

1841: 'Village' in the Parish of Llanfairtalhairn
John Jones 53 Sawyer – Born in County

1851: Greenbach in the Parish of Bachegraig, Dymeirchion.  St Asaph Registration District
John Jones  64  Sawyer  b Henllan, Denbighshire
Catherine Jones 48 Wife  b Duyygfyldie, Denbighshire
Robert Jones  25 Son Agricultural Labourer  b Henllan, Denbighshire
Anne Jones  16 1835 b Dermerchion, Flintshire

There are a further 3 in Flintshire in 1841 but without any other names or other clues its impossible to say which - if any - is yours.

Waen, as you've managed to find Robert Jones, please could you give us his details? Do you have him on any census entries? If so, could you type out the details or give the references so that we can look them up?
Is the info that John was a sawyer taken from a marriage cert? If so, please could you tell us where & when this marriage took place. Who were the witnesses? Their names may help.

We need some concrete info from you to help find the family.
