just a thought ...it is the Farnworth ( now within Widnes ) address that may make a connection
could his father Walter have been Houghton ?...who married Mary Smith from Farnworth,Widnes ?

Marriage: 8 Jan 1894 St Catherine Abercromby Square, Liverpool, Lancashire, England
Walter Houghton - 20, Farmer, Bachelor, 5 Cecil Street
Mary Smith - 20, Spinster, 39 Church St. Farnworth
    Groom's Father: Josiah Houghton, Deceased
    Bride's Father: Henry Smith, Deceased
    Witness: Florence Smith; Ann Oakes

it is 2 years after the birth of Frank ...but could Frank have been born Frank Smith ??  Marys maiden name ?
Walter from  Liverpool / Mary Smith from  Widnes ?
is this a possible for Franks parents ?
realistically they are only 20 and if Frank was born when they were 17 -18 maybe one of the parents wouldn`t allow them to marry ?

Many thanks for all your assistance.

Yes Elisabeth mcArdle died in 1923. Frank then met Mrs Jones, while she was still married (to Arthur Jones). Frank fathered one or two children with Mrs Jones then Mr Jones discovered Frank and his wife together and leaves the scene.

Frank Horton pretends to be Frank Jones on my fathers birth certificate (Robert Henry Jones) in March 1929 but by my fathers baptism, he changes back to Frank Horton.

and the 1939 NHS survey came back with a DoB that didnt match his DoB on the war records?

So it's a riddle alright.

What was the exact DOB given on the NHS record? It will help us to help you if you provide all that you know, even if there is inconsistent information.

If you go on family search and do a search for Frank Horton the record will show up. http://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KDG7-HW2  The actual record appears to be on Find my past but I do not have a subscription for them. Take Care Lynette

Thanks Garstonite.

Yes thats a possibility, I'll follow it through. I've looked at the surname Haughton's before (and Orton) but not Houghton.

Hi

I thought the name rang a bell. There is a previous thread on him.
