My Grandfather Edward John O'Keefe stated on his certificate to enable him to marry my Grandmother that he was born in Faythe, Wexford Ireland, to parents William O'Keefe a Butcher and Mary Gibney in approximately 1892. I have checked with Dublin GRO and no record of his birth being registered. What does a baptism certificate look like in Ireland, or could he have been baptised in another place, ie Liverpool?

Welcome to rootschat christine.

I think you need to know his religion, and perhaps contact the local parish church in Faythe to see if they hold baptismal records.

There are some Irish records here:
https://familysearch.org/search

He would not have needed a birth certificate in order to marry.

Have you located him with his family in the 1901 and 1911 Irish censuses:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
(It may confirm place of birth)
Reading between the lines, I am guessing that the family ended up in Liverpool? Did your grandfather grow up there? Did he have siblings born in Ireland or Liverpool? Have you located their births or baptisms, as your grandfather may have been baptised in the same church.

Where did your grandfather marry your grandmother, and what is the document you have that gives this information about his parents and place of birth?

So it is the marriage certificate you have. I thought you said it was a certificate which enabled them to marry, hence my confusion and the question.  :-\

The 'John' is crossed out in the name column of the marriage cert and he signed 'Edward O'KEEFE'.  Was this alteration on the original scan from the Victorian BDM?

Looks like he applied to enlist in 1917 but there is no service record that I can see, so it would seem he was rejected for some reason.  You can have that document digitised through the NAA as it might give more information.  He gave his age as 28.

Search for the words - Edward O'Keefe Wenford Ireland - (Wexford misspelled).
http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/index.aspx

Here is an example of what it may look like, and some also include the same as the first few attestation pages of a service record.  http://dhistory.org/archives/naa/items/6516052/
