Hi on my great granda's marriage in 1849  John McBratney Moore  it lists his father as James agnew Moore who died in 1848.  did they not always put D or Deceased on the marriage cert ? and also in the wedding of Robert Carson to Mary Jane Moore ( her father Hugh Moore ) on 26th March 1858 a James Agnew Moore is listed as a witness but i have not been able to trace this person ?  so many James Moore    Hugh Moore had a son called James so i thought this may be him?  Regards Zion

Marriage certificates did not always indicate if one of the fathers was deceased (at least having the name is better than when the father's box just says 'deceased' or 'dead').
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
