Derry based Lynch and Bradley
« on: Saturday 02 August 14 18:48 BST (UK) »
Hi folks, I'm looking for relatives from Derry from around 1900 earlier or later. John Lynch who married Theresa Bradley in 1914, John was from Glasgow but probably born in Derry.  The Bradleys including Fredrick, William, Cathleen, Winifred, James and Annie lived at both Chapel Rd and Clifton St. Fred and William both died in WW1.  Any help gratefully received

regards

Just seen this from 2014.  I am Cathleen Bradley's granddaughter, her daughter Stella was my mother.  I knew Winnie Bradley, she died when I was in my early teens around 1979 I remember a Winnie Lynch coming to visit us in the 70s and there was also a Phylla ? Groom. I thought she came from Glasgow too but I'm not sure.  I know Theresa or Tess as my mother called her and Winnie were twins. James Bradley and Annie nee McDevitt were the mother and father, she died in 1896 aged 38 and her sister Mary Jane McDevitt lived with the family to take care of the children.  Not sure if you'll see this , if you do I have some other dates etc but I havent been able to go back further than Annie McDevitt on the Bradley side

Hi Janette, good to hear from you. Theresa was my great gran and if you were still in Derry in the 70s her daughters Isabella and Winnie would probably have visited then.  I was there once myself around 1970 when I was 8.  Fred Bradleys grandson still lives there- but he seems to have lost contact with other family members over there- I'm in Scotland.
Are there other members of the family still around?

A Private Fred Bradley, Royal Irish Regiment, death from wounds is noted in Belfast News-Letter April 27, 1916, and mentions he was married and lived in Chapel Road.

July 5, 1916 - Derry Journal - Londonderry also mentions death from wounds of a Frederick Bradley, Royal Irish Fusiliers, husband of a Sarah, of Chapel Road.

Many thanks for your help with this Scotmum, I will ask the mods to remove the facebook requests.  Janette- I just sent a friends request on facebook.  I knew of the deaths of Fred and William, but not that they were in the papers.  Do you know if there was any further info- I know William choked while having a seizure training at Fermoy, where he is buried.  I dont know why he wasnt repatriated to Derry?  Is there anything more about Fred?
