Henry Jones Newent

Hi, Wondering if someone could help, i am trying to trace both parents of Henry Jones born in Newent abt 1835, he married Elizabeth Symonds in 1859 and his father was down as James Jones, occupation of Henry was a boatman. In the work house in 1871 he is down as Henry 1835 birth boatman, he had 7 children Elizabeth 1854, Henry 1858,Fanny1861,George1864,Annie 1867,Albert we think 1869 and Henrietta 1870.  He died 1916.   As there was a few henry jone's born in newent, a few people have thought it was henry john jones, others just henry, and some even thomas henry jones, but all census and marriage certificate it is only down as Henry, so hard to know who his mother was, so we can trace them more. Thankyou, the only birth of a henry we came across down the archives in gloucester was a henry john jones born to a james and eliza, but the fact he signed everything just henry, feel the one you found, better suits him.   Am wondering about the marriage but i know yesterday when looking up the marriage of someone else, we did see a marriage between a couple and it said he was full age and her a minor, so will go off and have a look, thanks again for this. I've just been reading through your post and noticed that you have Henry's marriage to Elizabeth Symonds 1859. If this is correct it would mean that both Elizabeth 1854 and Henry 1858 were born before the marriage.
How confident are you that it's the correct marriage?

When i looked at the birth certificate we had scanned at the archives it is that one, Henry John Jones born may the 10th Newent Father James Jones Boatman and mother Eliza, so it looks like you found the same as me, couldn't find a marriage between a james born around 1801 and a eliza born 1811, this all makes you want to make a box, putting in there, for your own kids, birth certificates, marriage certificates etc, to make it easier, if are ancestors in the future ever do a family tree lol. thanks
