workhouse question

hi,wondering if anyone would know the reason why ,if a mother was in the workhouse in 1880 and her children were taken and put in an industrial school,why then 4 years later would they be taken out of the school and put back in the workhouse --one child being 7 and one child being 11 ----would this be a common practice or would there be a definite reason for this ,

stanmapstone ,thank you that makes interesting reading ,but I still don't understand why these boys would be taken back out of the industrial school and put in the workhouse ,they would only be 7 and 11 ,so too young to work ---any ideas --was it common policies to do this or what could the reason me

Workhouses had schools, so  it was probably thought that the workhouse school was more suitable than an Industrial School. Workhouse Schools are listed in the censuses.

stanmapstone --they were put in the kirkdale ind school aged 3 and 7 in 1880 by the governers of prescot union, I know their mother was in the prescot workhouse at that time , but for some reason they were discharged from kirkdale ind schoolin 1884back to the prescot union -the boys were about 7 and 11 at this time ---for what reason would they have been taken out of the ind school and put back in the workhouse
