I think she was actually Louisa Collins. I believe she and Richard were my ancestors

Hi
Not one of my Ancestors but I did a quick look.
Daughter Lois's birth register 1853 does give maiden name Collins

Baptism Crayford Kent
Louisa Collings 17 Mar 1816 d of Samuel and Elizabeth Collings brazier

(No James family at Crayford)

Sister Anne 13 May 1810

Samuel and Sarah Collings- Martha Ruth 5 Jan 1800,Ann 27 Dec 1795, and Hannah 28.4.1793.

There's a death duty index for a Samuel Collins of Crayford 1813. And yes I know it was before she was born but I can't see anything else for Samuel.

ps found a burial to go with that Death duty
Samuel Collins aged 54 17 Oct 1813 (so perhaps Granddad?)
Also Elizabeth 23 Aug 1844 age 73

I am pretty sure that my great grandfather was John Willett (1863/1868 Dartford/Hastings) who married Matilda Jane Sandwell. The paper trail is virtually non-existent though. John and Matilda did not marry until 7 years after my grandmother, Gentina Willett was born and parted company 6 years later. My grandmother's birth certificate is fiction, but Willett is mentioned. My DNA points back to Richard and Louisa though. I believe that John was son of Richard and Louisa's son John born in 1842. John and his father are both described as cutler/blacksmith. John and Matilda are together in the 1901 census where he gives his date of birth as 1863 in Hastings. But I think he is a son of John and Teresa (Lee) in the 1881 census in Hastings. But I have never found a birth record for him or a marriage for his parents. I have a DNA match with a descendant of Lois Willett (Hastings 1873) who I believe was John's sister, but there is no maiden name and the mother is listed as Eliza! At her baptism they give the mother's name as Lois! Did John (son of Richard and Louisa) marry twice????? I have DNA connections to the Lee family, also Scamp, Boswell, Stanley, Smith. My family is driving me crazy!

My grandmother Gentina died in 1969, so there may still be some people alive who knew her. Sadly I did not know of her existence until a year ago. I have no close family alive that I can ask.
