A place in Scotland
« on: Thursday 07 August 14 11:35 BST (UK) »
I have a place name that appears 3 times on a Scottish birth cert, I cannot make it out.

I have ancestry transcriptions which give Canonbie for one and Teviothead for two, cannot see it...

The birth was [Francis] Pringle in 1855 to William Pringle (1824-1890) and Elizabeth Dickson/Dixson (1829-1885)

Yes that is the right birth record, I got the cert because 1855 was a special year, they recorded lots of extra information in that year.

I thought Kenmore too, but it really does not fit in with anything else, unless there is/was a Kenmore down in Roxbourghshire.

Ta - I see Kenmore Bank now, not far off.

But I have to wonder, wouldn't a registrar in Northern Scotland would put in more address if it was a tiny place in Southern Scotland?

There's a Kenmore in Perthshire also and the Highlands at that time were full of Border shepherds.
