1676 marriage: bride & groom lived in...? COMPLETED
« on: Tuesday 12 August 14 22:39 BST (UK) »
The marriage took place in 1676, Holy Trinity Minories, London, but the couple are in Hemel Hempstead, Herts by 1681 and seem to remain in that vicinity.  Can anyone decipher the location and the county on the marriage record?  Thanks

We think Hemsteed in the County of Hartford - so Hempstead maybe?

So in that case it might be Hempstead in Hertford(shire)?  The 'e' in Russell definitely looks the same as in *steed....But is that really an 'H at the beginning?!?!?  :-\ Would be perfect if it were. Thanks for suggestions.

Yes, I'm sure it's an H - if you compare it with the H in Hartford it's very similar - just that the Hemsteed H has blotted.

Yes, that's right, it reads: Hemsteed in the County of Hartford.
