Glympton Look Up Please
« on: Friday 15 August 14 10:46 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Charles Johnson was in Glympton on the 1861 census with his wife Jane and son Thomas who was 13.  He was an Agricultural Labourer.

He appears to have married again to a Mercy in 1868.  Would anyone have the Glympton PRs that would be able to check for a burial for Jane in Glympton and if Charles & Mercy married there too?

Also is there any marriage for Thomas in Glympton?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Claire,
I don't have the Glympton registers so can't help there.
However on the FeeBMD for Oxfordshire I did find these references which go to
back up what you listed;
Death Regis. Woodstock Dist.  (covers Glympton) Jane Johnson June ¼ 1865 Vol; 3a Page; 376

Marriage Regis.    "          "         "            "         Charles Johnson - m - Mercy Alsworth Jun ¼ 1868 Vol; 3a Page; 931

Hope this helps.

Hi Alan,

I had seen those Freebmd entries and also Charles is on the 1871 census living with Mercy in Woodstock.  I do feel these are the right people but Johnson is such a common surname that I was hopefully looking for the actual PRs that would say for sure it was the right people.

Many thanks :)

Claire,

Unfortunately the transcripts of the Glympton parish registers by the Oxfordshire Family History Society stop just before the period you are interested in (baptisms in 1863, marriages in 1859 and burials in 1862).
