Dating only please of Mary Ann
« on: Tuesday 26 August 14 14:13 BST (UK) »
Hi

Could someone please suggest a date for this photograph. I presently believe it to be of my GGM b.1865. The thickness of the card base is exactly one millimetre and surprisingly stiff.

Thanks

1889-90.V.early kick-up shoulder seam.
Typical A & G Taylor back with the branch it was taken in the cartouche.

Thank you Jim,
Going to have to have a re-think, as my GGM was in the U.S. then (assuming dates are tight), from 1886 to 1892 before returning to South Wales and doesn't look 27 (and ill). She had two sisters but it doesn't look like either of them.

Thanks again.

In fact I think this is 1890.
This is a Marion Imp Paris cardstock & has a date code. Although understanding these are still a work in progress I can say it's not 1886 which would have this _ . _ under the name.
Typically 1880-89 had a quote mark to the left & 1891-1900 a quote to the right of the name.
This has a quote on both sides but no other coding & in my opinion would be 1890.

I'll bear that in mind. It may be that the date of her return was earlier than had been thought. Haven't been able to find her (and my GGF) on incoming passenger lists.

Thanks again for an interesting answer.
