Do you know whether Patrick born 1880 joined the army?

What sort of information are you looking for and what information do you already have?

Hi  Heather,  thankyou  so  much  for  your  reply,  yes  I  do  have  that  info,  I  would  dearly  love  to  find my  farrell  family  that  are  still  in  roscommon,  my  Father  told  me  we  came  from  roscommon  and  I  have  been  trying  for  many  years  to  find  them,  unfortunatly  I  do  not  have  the  name  of  John  farrells  Mother,  which  would  give  me  a  breakthrough,  I  would  be  able  to  find  his  siblings  and  work  back  to  present  day, mary

John's father (also John) would presumably still be in Roscommon? And in his 70's?

The Ireland 1901 census is showing a couple of possibilities:
John Farrell, 70, in Moher, Cloontuskert (wife Bridget)
John Farrell, 78, in Cloonlaughan, Lismaha (He's a lodger in 1901)

see: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Hi,
John Farrell is my great-great grandfather, and I'm trying to find more about him.
So far I have the same information as you have, he was born in Roscommon in c1849 and came over to Manchester in July 1867.
He married Elizabeth Concannon in 1877, she is not on the 1901 census, but John's sister Mary Farrell is living with them.
My great-grandmother is their daughter Catherine.
I just wondered if you have found anything else about John Farrell?
Thanks!
