   Hi I was at Nore House in 1960 training and I remember and have photos of some of the boys remember taking them out in Huge Prams remembered Matron and sister  we banged  The  prams against the walnut trees so that the fruit could fall for us  now in Australia but will never forget  Ann Vaughan

just getting used to this site not familiar with it. Nore house in Portishead  near Bristol  England on the Avon   and I am trying to contact anyone who was there at that time 1956  .I would also like to know how I can get  to reply I live in Australia and it is so much easier if I can contact people by email  but I can get used to this   Ann Vaughan

I grew up in Portishead! (Which is on the Bristol Channel, and not the River Avon! ;D ;D)

When we looked at this 2 years ago, we couldn't find where any records were kept?
But there were some replies on the old thread - maybe you can share memories?

Otherwise maybe someone should set up a Facebook page, or something on FriendsReunited?


RootsChat is deliberately an open forum - meaning that all posts are available to Google, Bing, etc.
That's how most of us found it! :D
But it does mean that it isn't secure from spammers and identity theft. ::)

The PM facility should enable you to contact others - or try a reply on the other thread?

K Garrad    hope I can get the hang of writing Private . I have many stories and pictures of the children I was looking  in Nore House and I am only to happy to share them  all the way from Australia .   Ann Vaughan

Hi, i am contacting you in response to you saying you could share photos you have of nore house. I would love to see that lovely house as its been knocked down now.      Hi well I have lived on Australia since 1965 but I did my training in House about that time  i  so even though I haven't got photos of the actual house I will be able to give you photos of some of them that I looked after , I was born in Fishponds Bristol and some of my family still live there . if this will be any interest to you  can let me know   I have a very clear Memory of the house and grounds  also Matron and sister  and I would love to share this with you . will you be able to contact me by email please  Ann Vaughan
