Alfred's wife shown on census as born Ticknall, Derbyshire ca. 1853 and indeed there is a Mary Ann Joynes birth reg'd Ashby de la Zouch in Dec.qtr.1852! I first thought, looking at census, she appears to be the daughter of Joseph and a Hannah. (In 1851 the family are in Derby listed on Ancestry as 'Jognes' - by 1861 Joseph is listed as a widower) but there is a baptism on familysearch for a Mary Ann Joynes 19/11/1854 Ticknall, dau. of Hannah Joynes so obviously illegitimate.
Hannah Joynes, dau. of John Joynes, appears to marry a Joseph Hyde, son of John, 16/4/1855 Ticknall (familysearch) and on 1861 Census Mary Ann is listed as Hyde so I am guessing this is why his wife is shown on the trees as Mary Ann Hyde. The name given for Mary Ann's father when she married - Joseph Joynes - is a corruption of her birth surname, and Christian name of 'step' father. There is no way of knowing is Joseph Hyde was actually her father - I suspect not since she married as Joynes!
Why do so many online trees state incorrect information! Mary Ann was born as Joynes, baptised as Joynes, married as Joynes and there appears to be no proof that her mothers subsequent husband - Joseph Hyde - was actually Mary Ann's father!
