Warneford Lunatic Aslyum, Headington - NOW COMPLETE THANK YOU
« on: Saturday 30 August 14 13:01 BST (UK) »
Wondered if some kind person could steer me in the right direction.  I am trying to find out if Ellen Willcox was admitted to the above asylum between 1881 and her death in 1885.  She was previously a patient at Northwoods Asylum at Frampton Cotterell but her death is recorded in Headington and I think she may well have been transferred to Warneford Asylum.

Thank you
Lyn

Does her death cert show Warneford as her place of death?

Thanks for the reply.

Don't have her death cert but her death is listed as Headington.

Always worth seeing what transcriptions the local Family History Society has done!

In this case Oxfordshire Family History Society www.ofhs.org.uk has transcribed admission & death registers for Warneford Hospital, 1826-1895, and published them on CD HED01.

The Society has a lookup service (at a small charge to recognise the work done by the Society volunteers in making the transcripts) for which see Surname Search Services at www.ofhs.org.uk

However, to show Rootschat members what the records contain, here is the entry, compliments of Oxfordshire FHS:

1881, 6 October

WILLCOX, Ellen, 40, S, Clifton, Bristol.  Transferred from Northwood House, Bristol.

There is no mention of her death there.

Just a note to let you know I am descended from Ellen's brother Alfred Luker. I am a new user so I cannot email you. I  hope you find this reply.
