Unread posts list
« on: Monday 01 September 14 15:00 BST (UK) »
Unless I am following an email link to a thread I have contributed to, my first place to go when logging on to Rootschat is the Unread posts. If I log on almost every day, the list is typically between 3 and 5 pages long. I have just come back from a two week holiday (without PC) and just looked at the unread posts and find it is only two pages. Is there a cut off time for unread posts or have a lot of other Rootschatters taken their hols at the same time as me?
All the posts in the unread posts list were posted today - the earliest at 10.27 am
Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

I click on the link "Unread posts" at the top of the page just to the right of my user name when I have logged in. Then I get a list with headings "Subject / started by", "replies / views" and "latest post".

That's what I do too Lizzie.  When I came back from a weeks holiday recently there were about 10 unread pages so I would have expected more for you after two weeks.

Duh! senior moment - I thought 'unread' posts were posts nobody had read not posts I alone had not read!

Lizzie, assuming you've not marked those that did show as "read", if you scroll to the bottom of the 1st page, next to ignore topics, there is an additional button "All Unread Topics", if you click this, you should get a list of all unread posts, although it takes a few seconds longer to load the page.  It doesn't show at the top of the page, even though "ignore topics" is one of the options, only at the bottom.

Hopefully that makes sense. ;D

Aaargh, now I've got 7927 pages! But it shows 38 pages since I went on holiday two weeks ago, which seems more reasonable.
Better catch up on some reading now,

Thank you, I'd been wondering the same thing and didn't know about the extra button for all  (7000+) unread  :)

Lizzie,

I hope you had a good time on holiday.  :)

That reading will keep you busy for a bit. :) You'll need another holiday after that.
