Going on  from Sandra's     post , there's  an Isaac Dykes    death  in 1907   Cockermouth  RD,   so    it  would  appear  that  Isaac Dykes Steele  was  probably  named  after him

Its given me food for thought concerning research methods.

It looks like Isaac Dykes is one of the children, that means one is left and its possibly John Stranger Steele or Thomas

Not yet, still looking  :)

To further cement it all, Isabella's grandfather is named Isaac.

Checking the 1851 census, there is no mention of a Stranger in the Dykes family, Isaac, Isabella's grandfather married Mary Holmes

You are way off now.  Its not going to be in the same line.

If you do as Rosie 99 suggested using free bmd -  putting Steele in the surname and Stanger in the spouse box and up will pop the marriage.

1901 Maryport Netherhall, Cumberland

Andrew Steele  33 Born Scotland
Sarah Jane Steele  33

Which should tell you its not your line so leaves you with Thomas.  ;)

Have you got it now -  ???

March 1899 - Cockermouth - 10b 793 - Andrew Steele married Sarah Jane Stanger. So John Stanger Steele would belong to them.

By process of elimination it leaves you with Thomas...............March 1911  ;)

Thank you

It would make sense for Thomas to be the other child because looking at the Steele family, I cannot find an Andrew Steele.

Maybe I need to get the certificates to confirm any relation, just to be sage. However this would defeat the whole purpose of this post, to try and find out the children without any expense

i appreciate the information regardless and I learn from this that looking around the details, rather than tackling the problem head on purely on the basis of looking at free bmd
