Many many  thanks  to Sparret  for  helping  me  out.   Her efforts  lead  to  a couple of findings  that  will assist  in  my  research.

Thanks to Merlin  for assistance  in  this  matter  and being able to  confirm  sparrets suspicions.

I  was trying to  find  the  maiden  name  of  a  Madge  "Hughes"  in  the Emmaville area.

As Sue  found  out  she  had several  children  prior to  1913  registered in  the  names of  Doolan and Riley.   Two more deaths  of  children  in  1919 and 1920  registered under  Hughes.

Her death  is not  listed as Hughes even though  the headstone reflects that name,  but  as Riley.
I have added  this  information  for  other researchers  who  might  be  looking at some  point in  time
regards Jenn

the value of a  certificate can never be underestimated

I  received a copy  of  Hercules  Riley  and  Maud Rummery  and  her  parents are Steven Rummery and Amy Ann Skinner.

On her death certificate her mother is listed as Amy Skinner

Maud/Madge may  never have know  that she was born  before her  parents marriage, which  the NSW records  show she was....

Hercules and  Maud  never seem  to  have divorced and she  has  had  several children  under  the  name of Hughes and Doolan  and  recorded also as Riley....

thanks  to  those  who  helped especially  Sparret
regards Jenn

Hi Jenny,
My husband is related to Doreen (child of Maud/Madge). I have located a heap of information relating to the relationships between Maud - her parents. I am currently stuck on who Maude's childrens legitimate dad was - at this stage it would appear to be a Robert Hughes. I have located the documents showing 5 of her children becoming wards of the state in 1921. I think you may be a relation to Robert Hughes so I was hoping you may have an idea on what happened between Maud, Herbet Riley and Robert Hughes..
Doolan/Doolin/Dowling was an Irish surname - Maudes dad was Edward Doolin (junior NOT Senior) - but she was an illegitimate child and that is why her father is not listed. Happy to help.
