i all  would any one would be able to help me, i  am tracing my family tree.
my grandmother told me a story when i was young that her father (my great grandfather)went on a boat she waved him goodbye never to see him again.,hope  i have the right family.
On the UK census in 1901 he is listed as Henry Looper b 1857-1860  Cape Town(he was a General Labourer.) but on his marriage records he is down as George Henry Looper m 1895 to a Sarah Ann Barnett.
His Father is down as George Henry Looper on marriage record.
I have found  a Death record for a George Henry Looper 25Th April 1905 Stepney
If anyone could look up this person for me in the cape town records or any information about him who was his parents ? etc i would be very grateful
 thank you.sue

I find nothing on NAAIRS for a George or Henry Looper, nor to a spouse maiden name Barnett. If he did not die in South Africa there would be no Deceased estate file for him here unless he owned property in SA. I presume he married overseas not in SA. The trouble is that people could be in SA for a few years but if no public record was generated their sojourn could remain invisible. Have you tried to find a record of his leaving UK by ship? These are on findmypast (ancestorsonboard) from 1890, worth having a look. Not possible from the SA end as far as passenger arrivals are concerned.  Best Wishes, Mole
