Look carefully at the census as well, it doesn't say they are the children of David and Minnie as they are not married and Minnie is listed as Minnie Jacka and as head of house. They, apart from perhaps the last one, judging by their place of birth are Minnie and William's children.

Yes, definitely the children of Minnie and William - apart from Violet Laura perhaps.

.      It looks like William never had children with Minnie, unless there are his children, but listed as David's on the census because they were having an affair behind his back

How do you reach that conclusion when all but one of the children were born in Redruth? They are not listed as his children, they are Minnie's children.

You do need to be careful not to jump to conclusions but to consider the facts carefully.

no problem

Looking at it again, you are right, they are all William's children

No. Perhaps not Violet Laura - Birth registered Bridgend  ??? Would need a birth cert to be sure on that one.

Querying Violet Laura. She was my grandmother.  She was Minnie and William Jacka's daughter. Minnie moved to Tondu, Bridgend whilst pregnant with Violet.   David and Lucy Watkins are Minnie and David Watkins children.  Quite correct they did not marry until William Jacka died. All the other children, William Reginald (k/a Reginald), Phyllis, and Hilda were Jacka's.

Welcome to RootsChat, Shirley.

That is good that you were able to clarify that Violet was Minnie and William's child and not David's and that you agree with what Sandra and I had concluded.

Hi guys

Looking at the bmd, looks like David and Minnie had a third child other than David and Lucy, William E Watkins, born 1913

Watkins    William E    Matthews    Bridgend    11a   1931
