Arlesley asylum
« on: Monday 08 September 14 20:27 BST (UK) »
Can anyone tell me where patients in the early 20 th. century would have been buried , did the asylum have its own burial ground?
Thanks
Marton

Think you're talking about the Three Counties Asylum (later Fairfield Hospital) at Stotfold.

They did have a burial ground as the Beds FHS transcribed Monumental Inscriptions from there in 2008

Thank you very much, have only just discovered that a relative may have been transferred there from Hill End, it has been very difficult to discover what happened to him and when he died
Will contact Beds a.s.a.p

Some patients were also buried in Stotfold cemetery -  see http://www.stotfoldtowncouncil.gov.uk/Core/StotfoldTC/Pages/Cemetery_Search_2.aspx

His death should still have been registered - have you searched www.freebmd.org.uk for Biggleswade registration district?
