Rudd family in Tenbury
« on: Tuesday 09 September 14 10:23 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I'm looking for any information on the Rudd family from Tenbury. Does anyone have access to the parish records to do a search for me please? The main person I have in Thomas RUDD, who according to the 1851 census was born 1823 in Tenbury. He also was not with his family on the 1841 census. If someone can find that record i would be grateful, also if there are other Rudds around the same period I may be able to link them to a census to get more family details.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

There's a 15yo Thomas Rudd, a servant on a farm in the hamlet of Berrington.  Might that be him?

Piece 1194, book 13, folio 5, page 4.

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

Family Search has a baptism for a Thomas Rudd in 1825 at Rock relatively nearby with parents Richard and Susannah
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NLFT-B68

Other possible children for the couple on Family Search include Emma Rudd b 1833 Hanley William
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NYRN-BZW

Possible family below in 1841 living at Eastham Worcestershire

Richard Rudd 60  Ag Lab All born in County
Hannah Rudd 35
Emma Rudd 8
William Rudd 5
Harret Rudd 3

There is a family tree on Ancestry that lists Thomas Rudd who is the son on Richard and Susannah  as marrying Sarah Jackson on 27 April 1851 in Worcester.  On the marriage cert Thomas is listed as a blacksmith and his father is Richard Rudd ag lab

Kay

I see that in 1851 your Thomas is listed as a Blacksmith and is living in Worcester

This seems to be the same Family in 1851;

1851 Census
Highwood,
Eastham, Worcestershire
HO107/2040/197/11
Richard RUD, 60, Head, Mar, Ag Lab, born Eastham
Susanah Rud, 40, Wife, Mar, born Witley
William Rud, 16, Son,born Hanley William
Sarah Rud, 13, Daug,
Jane Rud, 10, Daug
Olive Rud, 5, Daug
Last 3 Children down as born Eastham

OLIVE Rudd Christened 02 Aug 1846, Eastham to RICHARD/HANNAH
HARRIOTT Rudd, 02 Sept 1838 same details

Then we have;
LUCY, 23 June 1822 Knighton Upon Teme to RICHARD/SUSAN
THOMAS, 28 July 1825 Rock to RICHARD/SUSAN
MARIANNE, 12 May 1828 Rock to RICHARD/SUSANNAH
EMMA Rudd, 22 June 8123, Hanley William to RICHARD/SUSANNAH

There is a SARAH Rudd 25 July 1841 Eastham to RICHARD/DIANA

So was Susannah known as Hannah and Diana?
Hannah I can understand being a shortened version of Susannah.

The ages of Richard and Susannah/Hannah vary greatly on Census!
It appears to be the same Family as the address is Highwood in 1841 Census also.
Also in the Household is a Hannah Clement age 40, Lodger.

FreeREG has a Richard RHUDD Baptised 09 June 1793, St. Peter & St. Paul, Eastham to WILLIAM/SUSANNAH
Other Children to them are under Rudd/Rhudd;
Betty 1782/Susannah 1785/Thomas 1789/Edward 1799
Likely Marriage;
William RUDD/Susan SALBY, 23 March 1776, St Peter and St Paul, Eastham
(another Record has her a Susan Sally)
(although FreeREG has no Children listed to them 1777-1782)

I must say this is all very confusing and dont know if it is a help or hindrance to you Kevin

Trish :)

Kevin,
          I have just noticed your Rudd tree, have you put it together from the other information given. I come from the same Rudd family, Richard and Jane Dovey Knighton-on-Teme. Dave

Hi Dave,
Good to hear from you. I've got quite a bit of the information collated, but still so many questions. This line is my wife's line, following through from Richard and Jane (Dovey), her line goes through their son William, his son Richard (who married Susannah/Hannah Witley) and their son Thomas  (who married Sarah Jackson).
I have Richard born in 1715. Do you happen to know who his parents are?
Where do you fit in, in this tree?
Regards
Kevin.

Kevin,
           I haven't done any research back from Richard Rudd m1745-Jane Dovey. I come from William Rudd 1784 brother to Richard 1793 your wife's ancestry. My great grandmother was Anne Rudd born Wolverley 1858. I have visited the villages around Knighton, Ludlow as I don't live far away, there are many Rudds in the church yards. I have lots of history from Anne but little else that may interest you, however, if I can help please keep in contact. Dave
