Sunderland Union Workhouse
« on: Wednesday 10 September 14 16:25 BST (UK) »
Hello all.

Does anyone know if the admission records for the above workhouse for 1830s-1850s are available anywhere? I'm seraching for Eleanor Hollis who was recorded on the 1851 census as being at the workhouse then aged 13.

Many thanks in advance.

The Tyne & Wear Archives have some records, see Paupers Records in their user guides http://www.twmuseums.org.uk/tyne-and-wear-archives/catalogue-amp-user-guides/user-guides.html

They only have Indoor Relief Lists 1866-1947 and Inmate Registers 1866-1974 (incomplete)
1830s-1850 would be the old Workhouse which closed in 1855 see http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Sunderland/

Thanks Stan.

Looks like I've hit another wall with this research.
