In 1861 census Elizabeth is 24 and husband James is 25, living in Thomas St, Monkwearmouth. She is listed as being born in West Holywell or Earsdon in other census results. I have several leads but don't know why her father is Joseph on her marriage cert. It may be that he has two names. In 1841 census there is an Elizabeth living next door,[ in the Tweedy household] to John and Isabella Widdrington, but as I found in the Durham records it is George and Isabella as her parents. So is he George,Joseph,or John? If you can think of anywhere else I can find information, it would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi just a thought before I have a real search, could Elizabeth be possibly illegitimate and the fathers name was " made up" for appearance sake at marriage?

Thats a possibility, but the information I have is scant and I have been looking for a few years. I have been to Woodhorn Records office and came away disappointed, maybe I was expecting too much. Thank-you for any help you can give.

No problem but having one locating Elizabeth with the Tweedy family in 1841 have you census ref, and if not could you list who was in the household and where?!

The census for 1841 is from Earsdon, and the head of household is Walter Hindmarsh, then Walter,William,Joseph and then John and Isabella Widdrington. Next door[ I think] are Robert and Isabell Tweedy and Elizabeth[difficult to read], either Weltherton or Widdrington. In 1851 Elizabeth is listed as grandaughter to the Tweedy's.
On Ancestry trees people have named Elizabeth as Elizabeth Tweedy Widdrington so confused again.
It is possible that there are two Elizabeth's one 1835 and 1837 because there are a lot of Widdringtons in Durham.

I was looking at a Robert and Isabella Widdrington couple in Bishop wearmouth in 1841 with several children incl the 3 yr old Isabella.

So the family you have found are a different one (although I confess I cannot see a family as you describe!)  It appears your Elizabeth belongs to that one, and not to Robert and Isabella at all.
