Cate I think both Graham and Alma were strangers to the truth.
Ireland was part of Great Britain so no records of people coming or going.
It was not unknown for people to lie on census returns.
1911 caused a problem for couples who were not married ( at least to each other ) as it asked how long they had been married, what happened was invariably they gave a date 1 year before the first child was born.
I would try and check in Scotland for Graham's death using all the combinations of names you can think of.
Again, thank you! I have found it a bit of a nightmare trying to determine whether people I find are them (not completely telling the truth) or someone else entirely. Some people in my family still use different spellings and different names, so the flexibility with names at least has created lasting confusion (although almost everyone is called Graham or Roy for a couple of generations, which helps!)
