Benjamin Wilson and Sarah Godwin Marriage and children
« on: Friday 19 September 14 16:43 BST (UK) »
Hi
Does anyone have access to Crowland Parish records please
I Have a Benjamin Wilson who married Sarah Godwin sep 1/4 1838 reg under Peterborough
On the 1851 census they state Crowland as the place of birth .

Benjamin is a Boat Man on the 1851 census and had children all over I have children from the census born Rotherham Leeds and Northampton but have  a couple of earlier ones missing and wondered if they were born in Crowland. And the marriage certificate has any relevant details.

This is the only Benjamin Wilson that could be my g grandmother Ann Wilsons father she was married in 1857 in Barnsley to William White stating her father was a boatman . She would have been poss the first child born.

Do you have Ann on census before she married.  I am not seeing any evidence of her with Benjamin & Sarah in 1841 or 1851.

1841 - H0107/ 1345  Bk 5 f   34 p19  (Hunslet, Leeds)

1851 - H0107/1747 f 750 p   11 (Peterborough)

ADDED Where are Ann & William White in 1861 - what does the census give as her place of birth.

Hi Rosie

Thank You for the reply

I have Ann in Barnsley as a Servant age roughly 14 on the 1851 census but says she was born in Barnsley but she does not exist in any parish records or birth records for Barnsley

Big difference in ages from 1841 to 1851 census I know they rounded them down

Think I have found Sarah as a widow in 1861 census in Rotherham as a widow with David still at home. but not sure about this one yet
according to the 1851 census david and thomas were born in Marsborough (Masborough) which comes under Rotherham

Ann and William or not on the 1861 census He joined the Army after getting married and served in Canada and Nova Scotia he did not leave the army until 1871 after the census and Ann died before the 1881 census.
