I'm trying to work out the family by the name of Cousens heavily based in the North Weald, Epping area.
What I know so far for definite :
My Gt Gt Grandfather Arthur Charles Cousens 1867 - 1944 Born in Bow, London (M : Beatrice Berry )
His father : George William Cousens 1840 - 1907 Born in North Weald, Epping (M : Eliza Dodson)
His father : William Cousens born somewhere between 1792 -1797 in North Weald (M : Sarah .... )
William definitely married Sarah, also from North Weald. This is now where I'm unsure.
I have found a marriage in 1816, Theydon Garnon to Sarah Trimmer. Can't find any others.
Have found William and Sarah on most census records, although the Cousens is spelt in many different ways, their birth dates and places are all pretty much the same, as are their children's names. (Charles, Rebecca, James, Mary Ann & George).
I found a couple of trees on Ancestry quoting Williams parents as Abraham Cousens and Sarah Day, both born in 1760. I am dubious about this as, as well as the 5 children above they also have a son named John, born in Ireland.1818. But on someone else's tree he is born in North Weald. He marrys and settles in America.There is also another son on both trees called William, born 1823. Although these are probably correct as they would have been old enough to leave home before the 1841 census I suppose.
I have tried following the children, without much success. Although George, Charles and James all live together at one point, on their own, without their sisters or parents, but their parents are still alive on the next census
Poss marriage for Mary : 1863 Epping ... Alfred Pegrum or John Price.
Poss marriage for Rebecca : 1869 Epping ... James Smith or Alexander Nash.
Poss death for Abraham Cousens ( if he is related ) 1857 Epping.
I have tried to confirm all of this but am struggling to find the records. Please note that everything in block letters is 100% correct and I don't need any of these records confirming.
