I am trying.... and trying to trace William Brocklesby b 1838 and died in 1871, I know he married an Ann Freer Wood in 1860 in Hull and I believe his father was William Brocklesby b 1811 but this only by going on other peoples research, nothing concrete.
Help desperately needed.

Can't find him for certain before his marriage but this is a possible.
Marshall Brocklesby 20
Elizabeth 20
William 2
Death for
John Marshall
Brocklesby early in 1841 but don't know if the two match up.
There are a couple of William B's out on their own as servants in Lincolnshire in 1851 - but a little older at 16/17

Many many thanks, I have been searching for almost a year without success, I had found the 1860 census okay but didn't actually link them together, but it certainly fits, so do you think John Brocklesby and Marshall Brocklesby are one and the same?

Oops I made a mistake there apologies
the death for John Marshall was
before
the 1841 census so Marshall age 20 in 1841 can't be the same person.
John Marshall could still have been your William's father.
Best way to find out would be to order the birth certificate for the William born Dec 1838. You would get his mother and fathers names then and could work from there

Many thanks for your information; birth certificate arrived this morning...
William Brocklesby born 30th October 1838
Father - Marshall Brocklesby
Mother - Elizabeth Huggins
So it does seem as Marshall Brocklesby, John Brocklesby and John Marshall Brocklesby are the same person.
