Robert George Douglas - HMS Hood.
« on: Saturday 20 September 14 22:18 BST (UK) »
I an trying to find out about my, uncle Robert George Douglas born Govan Glasgow 27/08/1904, father William Forrest Douglas and mother Mary Anne Gordon they were married in 13/06/1898 Limavady Londonderry. Robert was part on the crew of HMS Hood. I have a small new testament for The Pocket Testament League, name - Robert George Douglas ord. seaman, address Mess 76 HMS Hood Devonport, on a separate page is written R.G.Douglas from C.Lt. Hill, Gibraltar Aug:19:22, I also have a photo of him  on board a ship in white uniform, the cap band clearly says HMS Hood.
Can anyone give me  any more information about him in the navy. He immigrated afterwards to Australia.

I assume he was still serving after 1920?
In which case, his records will still be with the MOD.

For a fee of £30 they can give you what records they hold.

Hi James
I am so glad we have made contact.  It would be so nice to find out more about our Pops family.  He was a wonderful man and loved by all.  To this day he remains in our hearts.  I have just spoken to My Mum and she said that she met your Dad ( she believes ) and he was going to Canada or something like that.  She also was taking about a Dave or Davey.  Nana and Pop had 4 children
William Thomas Douglas (deceased)
Henry Robert Douglas (deceased )
Hannah May Douglas
Winifred Douglas ( My Mother )

Mum also believes Pop said he was born in Ireland but we are not sure as to whether he was clowning around as there is a Govan in both Ireland and Scotland.

My email is (*).  I would love to see these photos.  Once I have received an email from you, as I will have yours, I can send images of our family/your family.  It would also be nice if we could exchange phone numbers and we could call you sometime.  Obviously we understand the time difference.

Look forward to hearing from you again as you would be my second cousin.
Love
Karen
