Can't see a Baptism for Evan Rees, Swansea.
« on: Wednesday 24 September 14 18:38 BST (UK) »

On the 1851 Census for Wales, my Great/Great/Grandfather, Evan Rees gives his age as 40yrs.

This should give him a DOB of (Approx) 1811... However, I am unable to find a Birth or Baptism for him:-(

His son, (also Evan Rees) was Baptised in the Wesleyan Tabernacle Chapel in Tontine Street Swansea in December 1836, - and so it's quite likely that his father was also a Chapel Baptism, - but I can't see one for him...

This is the 1851 Census Entry for him:

Country: Wales
Registration district: Swansea
Sub-registration district: Llandilo

Piece: 2465
Folio: 299
Page Number: 54
Household schedule number: 196
Household Members:

Evan Rees 40
Anne Rees 39
William Rees 19
Anne Rees 17
Evan Rees 14
Elizabeth Rees 11
David Rees 9
John Rees 6
Thomas Rees 4
Daniel Rees 2.

Any help welcomed!
Romilly.

Have you tried the Swansea archives?

They have the entire baptisms, marriages and burials available to browse at your leisure

I am having the same problem with my ancestor

Sorry to hear that you're having the same problem:-(

No, I haven't tried the West Glamorgan Archives, because I'm in Hertfordshire... (I've tried FindMyPast, Ancestry and Family Search). Have you tried on those?

Best Wishes, Romilly.

That's very kind of you, - thanks.

Btw, whose Baptism are you looking for? (FindMyPast have just put a new batch of Glamorgan Non Conformist Baptisms on that Site).

Romilly.
