Ellen Wilson, Dumfries
« on: Thursday 30 June 05 16:33 BST (UK) »
All I know about Ellen Wilson is that she was born in 1815 / 16 in Dumfries, came south and married James Coulson in Scarborough.  I can't find her on the Scotlandspeople site and would be glad of any information.
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

Hiya,

Do you know when she went south? When did she marry?

Do you have the cert or is it pre cert? If you do is there a father's name?

I have the index for 1841 Dumfries I could look her or her family up.

All the best,
Pam

I only have the details from her daughter's birth certificate and censuses.  The first child that I know of was born in 1849 in Scarborough, so it's vaguely possible she was still in Dumfries in 1841.
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.

Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.

Hiya,

Reet, 1849 - if that's the first birth could be an older marriage.
Or a long time without a child (forgive the thinking out loud, bit drunk.

In 1841 there are few WILSONs in Dumfries Landward (Kelton, Locharbriggs etc).

In Dumfries main there are 2.75 pages of WILSONs ~ 75/80 on a page.

For the name Ellen there is no one who fits with age...

Eleanor = 10
Helen = 5
Helen = 9

So no one even near.

If we could get her father's name from a marriage cert there are loads of "dad" WILSONs of an age.

Thanks for trying.  I've een trying to avoid looking for the marriage, since it's not on FreeBMD, but looks like I'll have to.
