Baptism Records n Family Search
« on: Saturday 27 September 14 20:50 BST (UK) »
In looking at my familly in the 17th and 18th century in Derbyshire I've found dual parish record entries using Family Search. In particular  baptisms in the Chelmorton parish appear to be duplicated in the Hope parish. But when I look at the actual Hope parish records the entry is not there. Can anyone explain what is going on

Hi,

Can you give an example i.e. name and a date which appears in both records so that we can
take a look?

It may be one was a Chapel made out of the other.
Both entries may appear in the same register.

Hi,

Think you will find this is a collection of baptisms - not the actual registers.

If you look at the batch number C054512 this is quoted for both Hope & Hartington.

The batch numbers for the registers are:-

Hope   -  C135864

Hartington -  No batch number for year 1772.

This connection may assist:-

Hi

I must first apologise for this post as I'm not quite sure what you are saying, and  I'm certainly confused by the reply posted. If I could explain
When I do a christening search on Family Search the three examples appear stating that a christening has occurred on that date at both Hope and Hartington;  the source implied is the 'England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975'.
When I look in the parish records for Hope and Hartington - I have a copy of both - there is no christening record for the name/date combination for Hope but there is for Hartington.
Is this what you would expect because as I read your reply you imply that you would expect the opposite?
